I practice The John F Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach. This universal therapy addresses virtually all health and wellness issues. It is a form of soft tissue treatment that can eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and balance the entire body. It does this by employing techniques to engage the fascia and allow a release in the bonds that exist between it, the muscles and bones. The fascia is the layer of connective tissue found directly beneath the skin, which then runs through the body in a three dimensional web without beginning or end from head to toe. It surrounds every muscle, organ and bone all the way down to the cellular level. Trauma, inflammatory responses, postural issues, repetitive motion and/or surgical procedures create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures. These restrictions do not show up in any of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.).

Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that involves directing gentle sustained pressure into the fascia; this allows for increased circulation through areas of tissue density and dysfunction providing a relief from pain. It can be deeply profound work that gets to the very root of the issues you are experiencing. These techniques safely and gently treat the entire myofascial mind/body complex, alleviating the pressure in the restricted myofascial system that causes the symptoms. Myofascial Release provides lasting and comprehensive results through authentic healing.

Each Myofascial Release Therapy session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia. To enhance your comfort during treatment, a two piece bathing suit or sports bra and shorts can be worn. Commitment to a series of sessions is usually necessary to reach permanent changes. Most clients realize the benefit of this work once they get on the table and experience it.

Myofascial Release & Massage Therapy Combo

60 minutes: $135
90 minutes: $165
120 minutes: $195

Massage Therapy with Myofascial Release can be a wonderful combination. Myofascial work is done first before any application of oil or lotion and is followed by Integrative Massage techniques across multiple modalities. It is recommended to schedule a 90 or 120 minute session due to the longer amount of time it takes to perform Myofascial Release.
